Leasing of lesson or show horses is only available to our students currently enrolled in our lesson program. To make showing possible for our students, we do half leases and full leases which enable students to gain a more extensive riding experience beyond the lesson program. Leasing provides the serious Saddlebred enthusiast the opportunity to show a horse if they are not yet ready or able to own a show horse of their own, but are serious about their riding and want to experience the benefits of working with one horse. Leasing a horse involves paying board and training expenses, shoeing and routine veterinary care such as worming, vaccinations, dental work, etc and show expenses for horse shows you wish to attend.

Whether you are a serious rider with a goal to compete or a recreational rider interested in improving your skills we can create an individual program just for you. Indoor and outdoor riding facilities make year round instruction possible. Special emphasis is placed on all riders learning how to properly care for and handle horses, both while riding and grooming. We encourage our serious students to take 2 lessons per week. Riding twice a week will speed up your progress and make a big difference in your riding!

Students who are interested in showing are offered the option of participating in Academy classes. We will discuss these options with you when we feel that you are ready to show.

Tiny Tot Lessons:
Tiny Tot lessons are great for the younger children who want to become accustomed to horses and learn about them too. Lessons run for 15 minutes and this provides a long enough time for most 5-7 year olds attention spans. These are great lessons which can allow these young riders to attend horse shows and enter in a lead line class. Children will learn how to walk, trot, post, steer and stop.

The American Saddlebreds style, good looks and reliable disposition have long made him a popular choice for children and youth. For more than a century, small children have taken their first riding lessons on Saddlebreds, soon competed on Saddlebreds in a variety of disciplines, and remained devoted to the breed for a lifetime. It is no accident that many of today's breeders, trainers and owners are second-, third-, fourth-and fifth-generation American Saddlebred devotees.

The American Saddlebred Horse Association (ASHA) has developed a number of youth awards that are designed to increase participation, encourage good sportsmanship and allow youth to enjoy competing with Saddlebred enthusiasts.

Academy Awards Program

The American Saddlebred Horse Association Academy Awards program encourages and recognizes juveniles and adults participating in academy classes at horse shows throughout the country. Academy classes create an opportunity for beginning saddle seat riders to develop and fine-tune their horsemanship skills, sportsmanship, and appreciation for the American Saddlebred.

An Academy class is any class offered at a local tournament in which two or more stables are participating, or any class at an open show that is designated "academy." Participants compete on horses designated as school horses, or horses that are regularly used in a riding lesson program. Acceptable riding attire consists of jodhpurs, gloves, jod boots, a dress shirt, tie and a sweater vest. Riding suits are not allowed, and helmets are optional, but strongly encouraged.
